Thanks to you more children in Turkana now have hope for a brighter future.

Your amazing support during our Together with Turkana campaign, means we’re now feeding at more nursery schools than ever before in the of the drought-prone region of northern Kenya.

Together, we’ve welcomed more than 18,900 children and an additional 144 Early Childhood Development Centres (ECDs) to our Turkana school feeding program in recent months.

Before volunteers began cooking Mary’s Meals at their nursery schools, many of these children went all day without eating and hunger caused large numbers to drop out of education all together.

School feeding officer Derick Odera is part of the team bringing life-changing meals to children in some of Kenya’s poorest and most hard-to-reach communities.

Speaking at Chokultom nursery, he told us: “These children have a long life ahead of them and it’s going to be beautiful if Mary’s Meals keeps their hope alive by providing a daily meal in their place of education.

“We want to show our appreciation for everyone who has supported us to make this a reality. There is immense power when a group of people with similar interests get together to work towards the same goals.”

Your generosity has helped us feed thousands more hungry children across Turkana and we can’t thank you enough – but our work doesn’t end here.

Worldwide, 59 million children are out of school and 72 million more attend lessons too hungry to learn. Together we can change this.
