A cycling adventure

Gordon from Largs, Ayrshire, and Megan from Wisconsin, in the US, are currently cycling 15,000 miles from Anchorage, Alaska, to Ushuaia, Argentina, in an effort to raise £4,500 for Mary's Meals! The duo have recently begun their journey, taking the long road south from the end of August 2015. Gordon said: “When the hills are high and the legs get heavy, knowing the impact that every penny raised for Mary's Meals will have, gives us that extra motivation and keeps the pedals turning!” Megan and Gordon aim to reach their final destination in the summer of 2017. Good luck to you both and enjoy your travels!

Rebecca’s race

A determined mother-of-three from Australia has taken on the Melbourne Marathon this month in support of Mary’s Meals. Rebecca Sheriff completed the course in an impressive four hours and eight minutes, raising a fantastic total of $2,338 AUD.

Rebecca sent us a fun race report to let us know how she got on!

She said: “Thanks to all of you for getting me through a full marathon by raising over $2000 AUD for Mary's Meals. We reached Melbourne during a sleep deprivation exercise, otherwise known as a family camping trip! The first half marathon went well – I completed it comfortably in under two hours. Unfortunately, my legs were replaced by two large slabs of blamanche in the second half and I made it in just ahead of the 4:10 pacer in 4:08:55 – still not too shabby for a nursing mum!”

Well done, Rebecca. What an amazing achievement!

Bags of love

Sam from Glasgow in Scotland has been very busy creating lots of lovely Mary’s Meals tote bags to sell, with all profits being donated to help feed hungry children. So far, Sam has raised a fantastic £200.65. Even better is the news that this total will be doubled as part of the Feed Our Future campaign, bringing Sam’s current fundraising total to £401.30! The Mary’s Meals UK ‘Feed Our Future’ appeal has been selected to receive UK Aid Match funding, meaning that all UK donations until 28 December 2015 will be doubled by the UK Government!

Thank you Sam for your creative crafts on behalf of Mary’s Meals!

A perfect match!

Newlyweds Carlo and Karina from Italy have recently welcomed Mary’s Meals to be part of a very special occasion – their wedding day!

The couple generously donated 10 per cent of the value of all their wedding gifts to help provide nutritious meals for chronically hungry children.

Through this very kind gesture, a total of 77 children will now be able to study and enjoy a meal in school each day for an entire year!

A big aloha to Werner!

A masseuse based in Germany is giving a portion of his proceeds to Mary’s Meals as part of a project named ‘Art for Meals.’ Werner Keller offers massage training courses, artwork and workshops inspired by Hawaiian traditions and strongly believes in using his art to support children in need. Thank you Werner for bringing some friendly Hawaiian spirit to Mary’s Meals!
