On Monday, September 26, 2016, Magnus MacFarlane-Barrow, founder of Mary's Meals, visited Cowtown to share the story of Mary's Meals, to greet local supporters, and to encourage more people to become involved in the vision of Mary's Meals - that every child receives a daily meal in their place of education, and that those who have more than they need, share with those who lack even the most basic things.

Magnus started the day early with an interview on City TV's Breakfast Television, where he shared details about how Mary's Meals is currently feeding almost 1.2 million children in their place of education. He spoke about the rapid growth of Mary's Meals, and the impact for children in poverty of linking education to food. He then went on to encourage others to join the mission of Mary's Meals, of ensuring that children are fed at least one good meal a day in their place of education. Magnus pointed out that the cost to feed a child a daily meal in school in Malawi is only $14.70, yet today 18,000 children will die of hunger-related causes.

The day was also comprised of meetings with Calgarians, a radio interview on Calgary Today 770 AM, and a public talk in the evening at Clear Water Academy. There was also time for a trip up the Calgary Tower, and a visit to Lammle's Western Wear and Tack.

It was an exciting day for Mary's Meals supporters in Calgary, and an exciting moment for Mary's Meals Canada, as we are beginning to see amazing growth in Canada, through the generosity and big hearts of Canadians!
