Happy World Porridge Day 2019!

World Porridge Day happens to fall very close to Canadian Thanksgiving each year. Here's one volunteer's story about spreading joy and Thanksgiving for World Porridge Day in Canada.

New volunteer, Judy in Lethbridge, hosted her first World Porridge Day porridge party on October 9. It was a huge success, raising awareness in a new city about the work of Mary's Meals, while raising enough money to feed 39 children for one year!

Judy served oatmeal with a choice of toppings - raspberry sauce, raisins, golden and brown sugar, cinnamon and a jug of milk. When her guests arrived, she read a small part of Magnus' book The Shed that Fed a Million Children, then shared our Mary's Meals Canada brochure, including our mission and vision.

After eating, Judy and her guests gathered to watch some short videos from YouTube that she had chosen (see below). Next, coffee was served with a table set up in another room for guests to come and make a donation, pick up a book, pamphlet or bookmark.

Judy says everyone had a good time and was so supportive!

Mary's Meals Canada would like to thank Judy, one of our newest volunteers, for her willingness to help us share our work and reach more children in need. We'd also like to thank all of our other volunteers who help us by raising funds, and by raising awareness of our vision, that every child receives at least one good meal every day in their place of education, and that all those who have more than they need share with those who lack even the most basic things. Thank you for all your little acts of love so hungry children can be fed.

If you would like to host a porridge party, or other event for Mary's Meals Canada, please contact us. We'd be happy to help!

There are many different ways you can help by donating your time, money, thoughts and prayers.
