MARY’S MEALS TERMS OF SERVICE

These Terms of Service (together with our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy and any other policies posted on our website from time to time) explain what Mary’s Meals does for you and the good causes you are supporting when you donate to Mary’s Meals, sign up to fundraise on behalf of Mary’s Meals (“Fundraising”) or our Sponsor A School scheme (together, the “Services”), and the terms on which you may use our website and the Services.

We operate in a number of countries across the globe and unless stated otherwise, these Terms of Service apply in each of those countries.

Your privacy is very important to us. Please read our Privacy Policy to understand how we protect your personal information.

These Terms of Service may be amended or updated from time to time. If we make material changes to these Terms of Service, we will post a notice on our home page and here on this page. We may also notify you through the email address associated with your account. However, it is your responsibility to access and check these Terms of Service whenever you access our website. The latest version of these Terms of Service will govern any future use by you of the website and the Services.

1. Mary’s Meals

We are a charity registered in Scotland (No. SC022140) and a company limited by guarantee (No. SC265941), with VAT registration number GB853153827, and have our registered office at Craig Lodge, Dalmally, Argyll, PA33 1AR. We, together with our affiliates across the globe, trade under the name “Mary’s Meals”.

Mary’s Meals is a global movement that sets up school feeding projects in some of the world’s poorest communities, where hunger and poverty prevent children from gaining an education. Our charitable purposes (“Purposes”) are as follows:

  • the prevention or relief of poverty;
  • the advancement of education, health, citizenship or community development, human rights and conflict resolution or reconciliation;
  • the saving of lives;
  • the relief of those in need by reason of age, ill health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage; and
  • any other purpose that may reasonably be regarded as analogous to any of the preceding purposes.

2. Accessing the website and the Services

Access to the website and to the Services is permitted on a temporary basis, and we may withdraw or amend the services we provide on the website without notice. We will not be liable if for any reason the website or the Services are unavailable at any time or for any period. Access to the website and the Services may be suspended or closed indefinitely, if the need arises.

You are responsible for making all arrangements necessary for you to have access to our website. You are also responsible for ensuring that all persons who access our website through your internet connection are aware of these Terms of Service, and that they comply with them.

3. The Services

The website and the Services allow you and others to raise funds for Mary’s Meals or any of the schools you select in the Sponsor A School scheme listed on the website. The schools listed on the website are at Mary’s Meals’ discretion, however we cannot and do not accept any responsibility or liability for the activities of such schools.

4. Fundraising

We have lots of ideas to help you with your fundraising activities. You can view all our fundraising resources.

The Services include the ability for you to build and configure a personal fundraising page. Building a fundraising page in no way implies Mary’s Meals endorsement of your fundraising activity. Mary’s Meals reserves the right, at its absolute and sole discretion and without notice, to cancel your personal fundraising page if it deems your fundraising activity to be inappropriate, unnecessarily dangerous or otherwise contrary to these Terms of Service.

5. Making donations

Please note that the donations you make to Mary’s Meals are processed by a third-party service provider. Whilst we take every reasonable care to ensure our third-party service providers are secure, we cannot guarantee the security of your information and payments transmitted via the Internet and we are not responsible for or liable for any loss you may suffer as a result of unauthorised access to any information you provide to our third-party service providers.

Please ensure that you read any privacy policies of our third-party service providers as their terms may differ from our Privacy Policy.

6. Use of your donations

We warrant that the donations we receive from you and others will be used exclusively in the furtherance of the Purposes or to cover the costs of furthering the Purposes. We are committed to spending no more than 7 per cent of the money you raise or your donations on fundraising and governance costs.

If you have wish to have your donations spent in a particular way or require any further information on how we spend your donations, please contact us.

7. Privacy

Mary’s Meals is committed to keeping your personal information confidential and secure. For more information, please see our Privacy Policy which forms part of these Terms of Service. By agreeing to these Terms of Service, you also agree that you have read and agree to our Privacy Policy.

8. Your Content

If you sign up for any of the Services and build a fundraising page or use any of our other services, we may from time to time allow you to submit, post, upload or display your comments, ideas, opinions or other material (“Content”) to your fundraising page or the website. You must ensure that your Content is accurate, not misleading, lawful and does not infringe the intellectual property rights of others.

By submitting your Content, you authorise Mary’s Meal’s to use and authorise any other persons permitted by Mary’s Meals to use your Content in whole or in part and in any and all media now known or hereafter developed for any purpose whatsoever, commercial or otherwise, without further approval by or payment to you.

We will not be responsible, or liable to any third party, for the content or accuracy of any materials posted by you or any other user of our website.

You understand and agree that you Mary’s Meals reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to use, not use and remove your Content. By submitting your Content, you represent and warrant that:

  • you are the sole creator and owner of and have the unrestricted right to create and submit your Content and to grant the rights to your Content set forth in these Terms of Service;
  • your Content is not confidential or proprietary;
