Canada board

Danielle Frothinger (Board President)

Danielle found Mary’s Meals in her search of a humanitarian charity that would target poverty, education, empower communities and include multiple developing countries. It was a challenging feat, but she found all of this with Mary’s Meals.

Danielle volunteered with us several months before joining our board of directors in April 2014. She has supported Mary’s Meals in a range of areas, using her experience from co-founding charity and non-profit organizations, serving on boards and having a professional background in administration and finance.

Danielle resides in Kamloops, British Columbia and is an avid volunteer, globally and in her local community.

Jill Mowser (Board Director)

Jill is a busy mother of four who fell in love with our work while living in New Zealand a few years ago. Upon returning to Canada in 2011, she contacted us and asked how she could help.

Before Mary's Meals Canada was incorporated as a charity, Jill was involved in helping to set up our website, along with other IT related functions.

She joined the founding board of Mary's Meals Canada, initially as a Communications Advisor.

Jill currently resides in Calgary, Alberta, has plenty of volunteer experience, and a background in Information Technology.

Janet Haugh (Board Director)

Janet is chief operating officer at Mary’s Meals International. Janet says that working for the organisation for four years has been inspiring. She believes that everyone can help to realise Mary’s Meals’ vision that every child receives one daily meal in their place of education.

With more than 20 years’ post-qualification experience, Janet has dedicated her career to service in the charitable and public sectors.  An accountant by profession, the Mary’s Meals approach to safeguarding funds and maximizing efficiency are areas that really resonate with Janet. She enjoys using her skills and experience to contribute to the work of Mary’s Meals and feels it is a real honour to be part of the charity’s global family.

Janet lives in Scotland with her husband and three teenage children, but enjoys traveling to other parts of the world and, in particular, being able to visit some of the many countries where Mary’s Meals works.

Robert McGrath (Board Director)

Robert is the founder and Managing Director of Optimize Capital Partners.

Robert first came across Mary’s Meals when he read The Shed that Fed a Million Children.  Struck by the simple but effective approach to hunger and education in the developing world, he was inspired to become involved.

Beyond Mary’s Meals Canada, Robert serves on the boards of two private foundations with a focus on helping the poor internationally and a local retreat center, Manresa.

He and his wife Jaime have five children and live in Toronto.  Jaime also is involved with Mary’s Meals Canada as an active volunteer.
